8-Day Balkan Tour Package from Zagreb: Croatia | Bosnia | Slovenia

A driver will be waiting in the arrivals hall at Zagreb Airport (ZAG) to transfer you to the hotel for the first night. In the afternoon we'll take a sightseeing tour of the city.

Earliest hotel check-in is 2:00pm, and the latest is midnight. Please book your flight accordingly.

We'll leave first thing in the morning and travel to Bosnia, stopping for a coffee in Slavonski Brod, a border town on the banks of the Sava River. After we cross the border into Bosnia, we'll head straight to Maglaj for a city tour followed by free time for lunch. Later we'll resume our trip to Sarajevo, arriving in the mid-afternoon. We'll take a sightseeing tour of the Turk-influenced city with a local expert. We'll also visit the Tunnel of Hope, which saved the city during the Serbian siege.

On Day 3 we'll travel to Mostar to see the gorgeous historic center and the stone bridge that separates the Orthodox, Muslim and Catholic communities. After lunch (own expense) we'll stop in Medjugorge, a popular pilgrimage site for Catholics. We'll then continue to Kravia, stopping at its magnificent waterfall, then resume our trip to Croatia.

We'll take guided tour of the city with a local expert in the morning. Dubrovnik is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. The perfectly preserved historic center of this walled city on the Adriatic coastline is the jewel in the crown of Europe's architectural heritage. Our tour includes the Franciscan Monastery that houses Europe's oldest pharmacy; Dubrovnik Cathedral; and Sponza Palace. We also include a cable car trip to a wonderful vista of the city and neighboring islands. The rest of the afternoon is yours to discover the many wonders of Dubrovnik.

We'll depart in the morning, traveling along the Croatian coastline with its jaw-dropping seascapes and island vistas, arriving in Split around noon. We include a tour of the city with a local guide, and entry into Diocletian's Palace.

We'll travel to the interior region of Croatia, traversing undulating hills to Plitvice Lakes National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Entry into the park is included (with access to the boats and train). Inside the park you will be able to trek along its numerous trails and take the boats that sail through the waters of these spectacular lakes. After lunch we'll travel back to the coast and head north toward Opatija.

Entering Slovenia, we'll travel to Postojna, home to one of the world's biggest caves, which can be partially toured by train. Afterwards we'll visit Bled, a gorgeous postcard town on the shores of a lake. Our tour includes a boat trip around Lake Bled, and a visit to the monastery on the small island in the middle. Later we'll resume our trip to Ljubljana, the Slovenian capital, which we will tour with a local expert.

We'll travel to Maribor, Slovenia's second most important city, highly influenced by Austrian culture. Then we'll make the return trip to Zagreb, arriving at around 3:00pm.
